- The River Road (Texas

hours drive west up the river road gets you nearly to Fort Leaton
(near Presidio) along the best road in Texas. Don’t miss the
chance!
- Big Bend National Park
Headquarters – in the Basin
- Ross Maxwell Drive and
Santa Elena Canyon
- Boquillas Canyon
Within 2 Hours drive of
Terlingua House:
- Sauceda – The
original ranch headquarters for the Big Bend State Park before it
was a park. The trek up to Sauceda will give you a chance to try
out your SUV and gate opening abilities. Don’t forget your
permits from Ft Leaton or Barton Warnock Center.
- Presidio and Ojinaga,
Mexico – We recommend lunch at the Buckanerro in O.J.

Although Terlingua House
has a two-night minimum, if you travel to Big Bend, no matter where
you stay I hope you stay three nights to have at least two full days
to take in the scenery and the culture. I highly recommend visiting
with the very knowledgeable and friendly outfitters of the area, but
for those of you who might not be anxious to call the outfitters for
a day in the Rio Grande or a jeep tour, following are two “Day
Trips” for your consideration:
Day
Trip 1
Day Trip 2
