hours drive west up the river road gets you nearly to Fort Leaton
(near Presidio) along the best road in Texas. Don’t miss the

original ranch headquarters for the Big Bend State Park before it

Although Terlingua House
has a two-night minimum, if you travel to Big Bend, no matter where
you stay I hope you stay three nights to have at least two full days
to take in the scenery and the culture. I highly recommend visiting
with the very knowledgeable and friendly outfitters of the area, but
for those of you who might not be anxious to call the outfitters for
a day in the Rio Grande or a jeep tour, following are two “Day

for visiting TerlinguaHouse.com. Terlingua House is located about
half way between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park about
2 miles west of Terlingua Ghost Town. It is situated on an interesting
geologic feature (cuesta) with an excellent view of the Chisos Mountains
of Big Bend National Park. On the southern line of the 15 acre property,
just across Long Draw, is the shear 300 foot limestone cliff of Reed
Plateau. On the adjoining property to the west you will find Long
Draw Pizza (Wed-Sun, 5-9), where Nancy insists on making all of the
pizzas herself to ensure the best pizza to go with the ice-cold refreshments.
